The AFSD report is formally delivered to the global High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), held annually in New York. [/size][/color] [color=#42a6c6][size=2]About the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA):[/size] [/color][color=#000000][size=2]ESCWA was established in 1973 and is one of five regional commissions under the mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The role of the Commission is to promote the economic and social development of Western Asia through cooperation and integration at the regional and subregional levels. It also plays a crucial role in establishing a holistic approach to sustainable development in regions and countries, based on a balance between the economic, social and environmental dimensions of development.
